Kyle — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

1. Introduction

Kyle is shared memory for you and your AI, made by InstantContext ("we", "us", or "our"). You keep notes, tasks and boards in the Kyle app on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and an AI you connect, such as Claude or Muse, can read and write them through MCP (Model Context Protocol). This policy explains what Kyle stores, who helps us run it, and how to delete it.

2. Information We Collect

Your account

If you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an identifier for your account and an email address. If you choose Hide My Email, that address is a private relay that forwards to you, and we never see your real one. If you skip signing in, Kyle makes an account with no personal information at all. Either way, the key that unlocks your account is kept in the Keychain on your device. If you add an email address for account recovery, we store that too.

Notes, tasks and boards

We store the notes, tasks, boards and tags you or your AI create, with their dates and which AI made them, so they sync between your devices and your AI. A copy is kept on your device so Kyle works offline.

Photos

When you add a photo to a note, or your AI attaches an image to one, Kyle stores its own copy. Before storing it we resize it to at most 1600 pixels on the long edge and remove its metadata, including location and camera details. Images are stored with our storage provider, Cloudflare, at a long random web address. That address is not listed or indexed, but anyone who has it can view the image, so share it only as you would the photo itself.

Connected AIs

When you connect an AI, we record which AI connected and when it last used Kyle, so the app can show that it's connected. Claude connects through Claude's connector directory and signs in with the same Apple ID you use for Kyle. Other AIs use a private address that works like a password: anyone who has it can reach your notes, so keep it to yourself.

Purchases

Kyle Pro is sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple tells us whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details.

Technical information

Our servers see your IP address when the app or your AI connects, and use it to limit abuse. Kyle has no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.

3. How We Use It

  • To store, sync and show your notes, tasks, boards and photos
  • To search by meaning: when a note is saved, its text is turned into a list of numbers (an embedding) that lets Kyle find notes about a subject even when the words differ
  • To sign you and your connected AIs in
  • To check whether you have Kyle Pro
  • To send account emails, such as a recovery code, if you've given us an address
  • To apply limits on note size and on how many notes are created each day

We don't read your notes, and we don't use them to train AI models or for advertising.

4. Who Helps Us Run Kyle

These companies process data for us, only to provide Kyle:

  • Render hosts our servers and database, in the United States.
  • Cloudflare stores and serves photos.
  • OpenRouter, which passes text to OpenAI's embedding model, creates the embeddings for search by meaning. A note's text is sent when it's saved.
  • Resend sends account emails.
  • Apple handles Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases.

5. Your AI

When you connect an AI, it can read, create, change and search your notes, tasks and boards, and see your photos. What the AI reads becomes part of your conversation with it, and that is covered by its maker's privacy policy, not this one. You can disconnect Kyle from within your AI's settings at any time.

6. Security

Everything between the app, your AI and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Your account key stays in your device's Keychain. Sensitive actions, such as changing your email or deleting your account, are checked with Apple's App Attest.

7. Sharing

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers above and the AIs you connect yourself. We would disclose information only if the law required it.

8. Keeping and Deleting Your Data

We keep your data while your account exists. Deleting a note deletes it and the photos it holds. You can delete your whole account from Settings in the app, which removes your notes, tasks, boards and photos. Deletion is permanent and can't be undone.

9. Children

Kyle is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
